STRONG 8K Servers & Performance
How streaming delivery works, what really causes buffering, and how to diagnose a performance complaint without guesswork.
Every reseller is asked about servers. This page explains streaming delivery in general terms and the factors that genuinely influence playback, so you can answer customers accurately.
How a stream reaches a screen
- 1Content is encoded into one or more quality levels.
- 2It is delivered from streaming infrastructure across the public internet.
- 3The customer's internet provider carries it into their home.
- 4The router passes it to the device over Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
- 5The player application decodes it and the display shows the picture.
What influences performance
| Factor | Effect |
|---|---|
| Routing between networks | Longer or poorer paths add latency |
| Peak-time congestion | Evening and live-event load slows shared networks |
| Customer's internet service | Stability matters more than headline speed |
| Home network | Wi-Fi distance, walls and old routers are the most common fixable cause |
| Device and application | Weak hardware or poor buffering causes stuttering |
First steps when a customer reports buffering
- Switch the device to a wired Ethernet connection if possible.
- On Wi-Fi, use the 5 GHz band and reduce distance to the router.
- Restart the router and the device.
- Test the same content on a phone using mobile data to isolate the home network.
- Note when problems occur — a time pattern usually points to congestion.
